What do you do on your commute to work? Every day, 100 million Filipinos spend one to three hours on commuter buses. Campus Crusade for Christ missionaries in the Philippines dreamed of a way to utilize that time to share the gospel with the commuters. They prayed, trusting God for a breakthrough, and He answered in a wonderful way!

Mark is one of the Philippine Campus Crusade missionaries.  His friend, Marife,* is passionate about spreading the good news through media platforms and inspiring short films. Marife works with MagnaVision, which is helping the Philippine government with a project to upgrade the viewing experience of those 100 million people who use commuter buses daily.

During the first phase of the project, 10,000 buses from 38 companies had TVs and DVD players installed by MagnaVision. MagnaVision is also supplying the DVDs to be played on all of those screens.  MagnaVision contacted Mark for the content. That means that 10,000 screens are playing evangelistic short films for the viewing pleasure of a captive audience of millions of viewers!

MagnaVision specifically asked for Falling Plates, Venia, My Last Day, La Búsqueda, In Time, Loneliness of One and the Sermon on the Mount films. All of these films are available on www.globalshortfilmnetwork.com.

Mark’s prayer is that the Holy Spirit will speak to the hearts of these commuters and that they’ll start taking simple steps to know more about having a relationship with Jesus.

Using online communications options like Skype, the Filipino missionaries have developed a discipleship system (that they’ve dubbed “Skypleship”) to help interested commuters learn more about a relationship with Jesus.
