Learning to Sit at His Feet

Standing after the Storm
Hurricane Irma left many trees uprooted in our neighborhood. There are also many that withstood the storm and are still standing. What made the difference? The root system.
Those that were blown over had shallow root systems, so the harsh winds toppled them.
This reminded me of Colossians 2:7: “Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
As I pass these uprooted trees, I pray, “Lord, let my roots grow down deep into You. I want my faith to grow strong and to have a life that overflows with thankfulness.”

Lord, help me grow deep roots as I daily study Your Word, spend time with You in prayer and praise, and follow You in faith-filled obedience.
Thank God for those He has sent into areas still reeling from natural disasters. Pray for more Christ-like, Spirit-filled, gospel-bearing labourers to go and meet the needs of the hurting.
