God’s Immense Love

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father…that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19

God’s love really does break through the deepest darkness. Several years ago, anxiety and depression swept over me. I struggled not to lose hope.

During this time my husband and I were very sick with dengue fever. Our friends’ children were hospitalized with dengue, and I feared for mine. It was in my darkest times that I sought the Lord. I spent much time meditating on the psalms of David, 1 Peter, James, and Romans. God’s Word gave me glimmers of hope in these times of deep despair. His immense love reached down and comforted my heart.

The Life Application Bible says poignantly, referring to Ephesians 3:14-19:

“God’s love is total. It reaches every corner of our experience. It is wide—it covers the breadth of our own experience, and it reaches out to the whole world. God’s love is long—it continues the length of our lives. It is high—it rises to the heights of our celebration and elation. His love is deep—it reaches to the depths of discouragement, despair, and even death. When you feel shut out or isolated, remember that you can never be lost to God’s love.”

How has God’s immense love reached out and touched your life? Our lives are a masterfully written story, just waiting to be told. Go ahead and tell yours today.
