Learning to Sit at His Feet

31 Days of Following Jesus

October 3, 2017

What a Wonderful Name It Is!

In recent days the Lord has led me to sign birthday wishes for friends: “Have a wonder-filled year!” When was the last time Jesus caused you to be filled with wonder? Isaiah 9:6 says that Jesus’ “name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.” Have you been struck lately by the wonder of Jesus’ name?

The word wonder is defined as, “a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.” When was the last time you felt that way about Jesus? Maybe in a worship time, or sitting at a beach, stunned by the power of the crashing waves, or perhaps perched on a mountaintop, amazed at the grandeur of the scenery below?

Take time now–or sometime today–to ponder and experience the wonder of Jesus!

Prayer Requests:

Lord, touch our hearts today, so that we will know the wonder of Your name and Your presence.

Pray for the African Forum on Religion and Government (AFReG4), being held October 2-5 in Ghana. Intercede for God’s work in the lives of the 300 leaders from Africa and the Diaspora who are attending. Pray that they will recognize their role in bringing healing and transformation to their nations.

Praise God for political and diplomatic leaders who have followed Jesus. Pray that they will be witnesses for Jesus everywhere they go.
