“Why are there so many religions if there is only one God?” asked Yusuf* in a phone conversation with Cru staff member, Azim. Yusuf and Azim had met a few weeks before, working together to deliver humanitarian aid to people in a poor, remote area of their country. They had talked together while driving to different villages and in the evenings after the work was done. Yusuf had demonstrated his care for others and expressed an openness to the gospel, but he did not know Jesus.
After they returned to their own cities, Azim continued his conversation with Yusuf over the internet. He asked his friends, “Please, pray for Yusuf to accept and understand that Jesus is the only way to the Father.”
Only a few weeks later Yusuf emailed Azim: “I was going home by bus. All of a sudden, I heard a voice saying, ‘I am revealing the light to you. You shall love Me and My Son-God’s Son. You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you!’”
He said he was shocked, but when he arrived at home, he decided to put his faith in Christ. Although Azim has known Yusuf for only a few weeks, Yusuf has been involved with others in the Cru movement for more than three years. They are rejoicing, having hoped and prayed that this day would come. Azim told his friends, “Your prayers helped us see this day so soon!”
