Learning to Sit at His Feet
31 Days of Following Jesus
October 27, 2017
I Want to Go Home
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain (Galatians 2:21).
“I just want to go home,” I say often. I want to go home, kick off my shoes, change into comfy clothes, sit down and rest.
Our lives are so filled with good activities and responsibilities that we find it difficult to take time to enjoy being still with Jesus. We fill up our schedules like hoarders filling every space that is fillable. But why? Our righteousness no longer comes through obedience to the law. We no longer have to strive to “earn” His love and acceptance. We already have it. It is called grace!
Jesus is knocking and desirous of fellowship. He wants to speak to us, lavish His love on us, and bless us, but we’re too busy to sit down and enjoy His loving presence. We need to do what we want to do in our heart of hearts. Let’s cease striving, make time and space for Him, and remember it’s okay to go home!

Father, thank You for Your grace that gives me the freedom to cease striving and to rest. Prompt my heart to slow down, to make time and space for You, and to be at home in Your love.
There will be a nationwide Christ Day in Finland on December 2, Finland’s 100th anniversary of independence. Pray that the day will bring together Christians from all denominations and organizations. Pray that all will join to give thanks to God for His grace on their nation, and to pray for Finland and its revival.
