They met with a dream: to equip the Church in Egypt to reach the lost by going beyond cultural norms of big, traditional church services. It was 2016. The 21 pastors planned to start with the Global Church Movements training, MC2 (Multiplying Churches and faith Communities). MC2 is designed to help establish biblical, missional, multiplying, and locally sustainable churches and faith communities.
By the middle of 2017, the 21 pastors had all completed the training and successfully launched many new home groups and house churches. Many prayed that a lifestyle of multiplication would spread through the culture of these new churches. They prayed for an environment where disciples are making disciples who are making even more disciples, and groups are producing new groups.
Accomplishing this task in Egypt, with its rich history of large, attractive traditional churches, has not been simple, but God has moved in hearts. The group of 21 has expanded to 260 pastors and lay leaders. Many have just completed another round of training. There are now 637 groups, and many of these are already third-generation churches. As multiplication continues, this number is set to explode. The pastors’ dream is becoming reality: God is radically growing the Egyptian Church through multiplication.
