Read and reflect: Romans 12:1-2

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect (vv. 1-2, ESV).

Draw near

Jesus, thank You that I’m called to be a living sacrifice, fully surrendered to You. Help me to experience an even greater portion of Your love, grace and mercy, taking great delight in You alone. Reveal the places of my life that mirror and echo the culture around me.

Remind me often of Your holiness, and that I’m called to live as one set apart, one chosen as an ambassador of the kingdom of God. Give me strength to live this out in our broken and dark world. Transform my life in such a way that every person who meets me would ask me about this unique difference within my life, Jesus in me.

Pray that those involved in local movements, in partnership with the local body of Christ, would be able to meet the needs of the poor around them–physically, emotionally, and spiritually–from the abundant resources of Christ the King.

“Amy Carmichael’s great longing was to have a ‘single eye’ for the glory of God. Whatever might blur the vision God had given her of His work, whatever could distract or deceive or tempt others to seek anything but the Lord Jesus Himself she tried to eliminate.” – Elisabeth Elliot
